Baby Shower Blog Hop

Lisa McKinney is one of the Makeup Artists for Paper Makeup Stamps and she is expecting a baby boy - like any day now! Today the design team is throwing a {surprise} baby shower blog hop for Lisa - Hi Lisa! {waving}. You should have arrived here from Randee's blog. If not, you'll want to go to the PMS blog and start hopping with us from the beginning so you don't miss any of the fun cards today. {wink}

I could not resist using
Teddy for my card today. With my user name being {mybearybest}, this little boy fairy holding his teddy bear is just too perfect for my card for Lisa. I paired him with one of the sentiments from the new Cutie Critter Sayings set. I colored Teddy with my copic markers and added buttons to match the bear's eyes. The striped paper is from a DCWV All About Boys pack.

Now it's time to hop on over to
Maria's blog and see what baby shower surprises she has to show everyone. Congrats on being in the home stretch, Lisa - I'm looking forward to the announcement of your baby boy's safe arrival. {grin}

Blessings,

Moody for Art

Makeup for the Weekend - M4TW36
Mercy's Tuesday Sketch - MTSC84

This week's challenge from Paper Makeup Stamps was to use notebook or graph paper on your card and I combined it with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch. There are a series of Moody Girl stamps at the Paper Makeup store. They are all so detailed which makes them lots of fun to color. This one is called Moody for Art. I colored her with my prismacolor pencils and baby oil. I used the curved rectangles nestie to cut her out, edged it with a red spica glitter pen (what would I do without my spica pens?!) and chose a couple of SU! papers to go with her. Following Mercy's sketch from this week just helped pull this card together pretty quickly - gotta love that! Here's a close-up of the coloring.

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Shimmery Wishes

Flutterby Wednesday - FBW115 open challenge

This week's Flutterby Wednesday challenge is an open one - just create a project with a butterfly, fairy or an angel on it. I am still having so much fun inking up this Dandy Wishes set from Paper Makeup Stamps. I used shimmery white paper so the entire card would sparkle. The background was sponged in fading pastel colors and I used a circle as a mask for the sun. That sentiment is from the latest kit by Paper Makeup Stamps called The Will to Day Dream. I love the font used on this stamp! Then the little butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch and they are covered with a clear spica glitter pen to make them sparkly too - just like the paper. I {heart} sparkle! Here's a close up of that shimmer.

Day Dreaming Will

Paper Makeup Stamps has released a new Makeup Card Kit called The Will to Day Dream and it's just full of fun papers, accessories and stamps. Everything from this card except for the linen thread and white cardstock is from the kit. I colored this dreamy fairy named Will with prismacolor pencils and baby oil. He's cut out and popped up to give a little dimension to the card. And it's hard to tell in the photo, but that's a strip of delicious wide chocolate brown ribbon behind the row of diamonds. {yum!}

Here's a close-up of Will and a better look at my faux stitching. I used a spica glitter pen and piercing took kit to add a zig-zag stitch look around the border.

Thanks for stopping by! Blessings,

Christmas in July

Flutterby Wednesday #114 - Christmas in July

I have some fun news! There was a vacancy on the Flutterby Wednesday Design Team and I've been asked to fill that spot for the rest of the year! {doing a happy dance} I just love Danni's weekly FBW challenges and I'm so honored to be asked carry over from my Guest DT work this month. {HUGE smile}

Today's card is clean and simple! I really, really wanted to use an angel for the Christmas in July theme and I think the only one I have is from an old Stampin' Up set called Nativity Silhouette. I decided embossing these images was the way to go and I used iridescent ice powder on the angel to make it glittery. The blue 5-1/2" square is Abysse Sparkle cardstock from Paper Temptress and serves as the base of my card. The Confetti White cardstock is folded in half and mounted on the Abysse paper. The front flap is trimmed up half an inch to show some Gold Metallic Text paper (also from Paper Temptress) that is taped on the inside. I just love how the shimmer of the PT papers set off the shine in the embossed images too. {grin} The saying is from another retired SU! set called City of David.

Thanks for fluttering by today!

Blessings,

Birgitta in Blue

All That Scraps - Monochrome
SCS Sketch Challenge - SC261

Here is my first attempt at monochromatic coloring! I've learned All That Scraps has a Weekly Wednesday Challenge and for this week it's monochrome projects. They featured a card by Katie Cotton as an example and gave links to her video tutorials on how to do this. Let me tell you, they are fabulous! I watched them and said, 'Okay, I can DO this!' I chose Swiss Pixie Birgitta by C.C. Designs and stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I pulled out my neutral markers and realized I didn't have the range I needed for black & white monochromatic coloring. Hmmm, well I decided Birgitta could look good in blue, right? Although, she does look a bit like she's been holding her breath too long, KWIM? hahahaha

The papers are from Basic Grey Lime Rickey and Marrakech. I colored white flowers with the copics to match. I used Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities to cut Birgitta out and edged it with a blue spica atyou glitter pen. And she just seemed to NEED sparkly wings, so I dusted them with dazzling diamonds glitter. Here's a close-up of her. {grin}

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Have a fabulous day!
Blessings,

Sailing Birthday

Paper Makeup Stamps - M4TW35 use felt
SCS Sketch Challenge - SC289

This week's Makeup 4 the Weekend challenge is to use felt on your card. I went digging through leftover supplies from the boys' school projects and found this dark blue glittery felt. Oooh, so what could I make with that? I decided to go through my paper next and chose this sheet from Basic Grey Lime Rickey that matched the felt pretty well. Once I had that picked, it made me think of water, so using the Sailing By set from Paper Makeup Stamps was a natural choice. Then I thought hey, if I cut the felt to look like waves it would fit this week's sketch challenge pretty well. And so, hey, I did just that! {grin}

I used versamark ink to emboss with my Night of Navy Classic ink pad and clear EP. I picked copics that matched my paper and colored the sail boat simply. I used dimensionals to pop up the boat panel over the felt. I love how fast this card came together - all starting with that piece of felt!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll join us in this week's challenge to use felt on your card. Be sure to link it up here if you do!

Blessings,

Flutterby Cookie

Flutterby Wednesday - FBW113 at least 3 layers

This week's Flutterby Wednesday challenge is being sponsored by Di's Digi Downloads. The digi image I chose to use is called Puppy Cookie with Butterfly. Isn't this little dog watching a butterfly so cute? And I chose to flip the image just because I could, haha. I colored with lots of ink pads and a blender pen. I used the nestabilities called Large Labels and edged the picture with a black spica glitter pen. The butterfly, flowers and Cookie's nose & pads all sparkle from the clear spica pen too. {wink} The paper is from DCWV Butterflies & Blossoms pad. This week's challenge is to use at least 3 layers, and I have exactly three with the zigzag paper, pink paper and image {grin}

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll play along with this week's Flutterby Wednesday challenge!

Scentsational Perfume

What a fantastic review week this has been for Paper Makeup Stamps! Fairies, flowers, retail and now beauty! I hope you've been checking out the PMS blog each day to see all the fabulous creations by the design team. And don't forget to use the code from the blog hop by Wednesday July 14th for 15% off any of the July Release stamps before it expires. {a Technical note - if you get a white error screen at the store site - hit the refresh key (F5) to get back to the store. They're working hard to get this fixed and thank you for your patience!}

My review card for you today features the beautiful old-fashioned perfume bottle from
Scentsational Perfume and one of the two sentiments that comes with it. I love this quote about happiness by Emerson - it's just so true!

I embossed the perfume bottle in copper on the pink paisley paper. I used glitter spica pens to color the top and pump of the bottle. The sentiment is also embossed in copper and I used a copper marker on the edges of the panels and for the faux stitching. The two-tone ribbon is from May Arts and the pearl flowers are from Basic Grey.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a scent-sational day!

A Dandy Wish

Color Throwdown - CTD #100 Regal Rose, Real Red, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze
SCS Technique Challenge -
TLC281 double embossing
SCS Clean and Simple Challenge -
CAS75 dry embossing

I made this simple card using one of
Paper Makeup Stamps new July release sets called Dandy Wishes. I just {heart} all the dandelion images in it. This sweet one has the word 'Wish" right in the center of it. I used markers to ink up the stamp. It's also coated with some dazzling diamonds glitter for some easy sparkle. I embossed the baja breeze panel twice with Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes and Sizzix Summer.

The colors used are from Color Throwdown #100. They're having a huge celebration for their 100th challenge and giving away lots of prizes. Paper Makeup Stamps is one of the sponsors giving away the ENTIRE July Release on Lisa Kind's blog. And PMS is giving away an additional $30 gift certificate here for using a PMS image with the CTD colors.

Here's a close-up of the sparkle on the dandelion. {smile}

A Cut Above the Rest

** This is my second post of the day.**
Scroll down for the Flutterby Wednesday Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop on the Paper Makeup Stamps July Release Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from Shaela's fantabulous blog. If you didn't, you'll want to turn around and go to the Paper Makeup Stamps blog where the fun starts! Every Makeup Artist has a letter on her blog along the way that will spell out a code that's good for one week for 15% off the stamps in the July release.

For my card, I am using stamps from the A Cut Above set illustrated by our very own
Shaela Odd. I just {love} the swirly pattern on the mirror and comb! I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch as a starting point. I embossed the images in black and filled in the spaces with my white gel pen. After I cut it out with a labels four nestie, I traced around the embossed edge with a black spica glitter pen. I did the same with the smaller accent shape too. The DP SU! Parisian Breeze and black cardstock are both textured. The ribbon is reversible black & white satin by May Arts. Add a few gems, emboss the saying, pop up the panels and voila!

And there's my letter for You! Now it's time to see what stunning creation Maria has whipped up for us!

Blessings,

Butterfly Bricks

Flutterby Wednesday - FBW#112 Open Challenge

I am beyond excited to be the guest designer this month at Flutterby Wednesdays! {huge grin} And I am so glad that the Flutterby Team is back in action. Did that little vacation not seem to go on and on to you? I've really missed the weekly challenges. How fun to kick things off again with a blog hop! You should have arrived here from Jodi's fluttery fabulous blog. If not, be sure to start back at the beginning with the Flutterby Wednesday blog and leave a comment at every stop. There's a special fluttery prize hidden for someone along the way. {wink}

For my card today I decided to try my hand at making a brick wall and I totally {heart} how this turned out! After I stamped the butterfly in black ink on the vanilla cardstock, I sponged some color on it. Then I over-stamped the entire panel with a background stamp for the weathered look. I cut the image into half inch strips and then cut those strips into 1" pieces staggered by a half inch to give it a brick layout. Each tiny piece was then sponged for more depth. That really didn't take as long as you'd think, you've just got to keep the pieces all in the right order. Once that was done, I just taped them all to the burgundy cardstock leaving off a few of the 1/2" pieces to add interest and finished off the card! And I just HAD to go over that gorgeous butterfly with my clear spica glitter pen to make it sparkle too. {smile}

And now it's time for you to hop on over to the blog of our fluttery leader herself, Danni!

Blessings,

Dandy Wishes - PMS Sneak Peeks

Today Paper Makeup Stamps is showing you a sneak peek of a new set illustrated by Lindsay Spencer called Dandy Wishes. I just {heart} all the dandelion images in this beautiful set!

I dropped both of my boys off at camp for a week on Sunday. I decided to make each of them a pocket card and mail them to camp to let them know how much we miss them! No really, the peace and quiet is SO nice, but we still DO miss them, haha. So, of course I had to make each card in their favorite colors. And being the kind, sensitive mom that I am, I didn't go overboard with any frilly or sparkly accessories because it is a BOYS camp and they will be opening their mail surrounded by their friends. No need to embarrass them TOO much. {grin}

I cut the blue and green cardstocks into 8-1/2" by 5-1/4" pieces, scored them at 2-5/8" on each side and folded them into the middle to make the pockets. Before taping them closed, I used nesties to cut out the windows and cuttlebug folders to dry emboss the center for some texture. I have some clear, heat-resistant window sheets that I used to emboss the dandelion heart flowers on before coloring them in with copics and taping them into the window spaces.

The pull-out card part measures 3" by 4-5/8". I kept the tabs simple, because again, these ARE going to a boys camp. {smile} The sentiment
Wish You Were Here is from an earlier PMS release and I think it goes perfectly with the dandelion as well as the occasion for my cards.

Be sure to check out the
PMS blog to see more sneak peeks of Dandy Wishes from some of the other Makeup Artists today! Then leave a comment there for a chance to win this set too! {grin} And come back tomorrow for our all-day blog hop and then the release party in the PMS forum at 8pm CST.

Blessings,
