Celebrate You

Flutterby Wednesday - FBW169 Theme of Celebrate
Sketchbook Saturday - SSC26

This week at Flutterby Wednesday we are following the theme "Celebrate"!  We are celebrating Danni's upcoming birthday on September 4th and it is going to last the entire month of September!  And we know how to throw a party - woo-hoo!  Come back every week for some fun challenges using her favorite things and sponsors from her favorite places to shop!  {BIG wink}

So, of course for this week's card I was inspired to use lots of pink {check}, lots of sparkle {check} and lots of butterflies {check}!  All favorites of my dear friend Danni - Happy Birthday!  And that sweet little saying can be found in the Little Moments set by Paper Makeup Stamps.

And we would like to further celebrate a new member joining our Flutterby Wednesday Design Team - please give a warm welcome to Mary J !

And to make our celebration even more fun, DT member Jen Shults celebrates her birthday on September 4th too!  Happy Birthday Jen!  {waving}

Thanks for fluttering by and I hope you'll celebrate with us by getting inky and sharing your creations at the FBW blog

Digi Makeovers Are Coming!

Paper Makeup Stamps is searching for a Design Team for their new Digi Makeover Challenge!  The new team will be announced on September 2nd and the first challenge will be on September 5th.  Check out the PMS Blog for all the details on how to apply.  {wink}  There are two digi stamps there for your use and one of them is the utterly sweet Argus with Teddy that I have used on my card.

Now admittedly, I have little experience with digi stamps.  I have always thought of them as "glorified clip art" and wondered why stampers would use them!  {LOL}  But as my stamping space becomes more and more crowded with cases, and tubs, and shelves of rubber stamps, I'm beginning to appreciate the appeal of something that can be stored in my computer instead.  {grin}  And I've seen so many clever creations using digis.  I like making an image different sizes, or flipping it to face a different direction, or omitting part (like fairy wings) to get a different look.

So, I'm looking forward to the new Digi Makeover Challenge and learning some tips on clever ways to use them!

Now for my card, I used GIMP to change Argus from black to a nice teal color and I changed a few of the words in the digi saying I'm Here for You to match.   I saved both an original version and a flipped version, then used Word to size and arrange a few images for a background.  I used a retired SU! punch for the WordArt and cut a couple extra shapes in half to make a frame for it.  Love the new Indigo Island ruffled ribbon too!

Challenges entered:
4 Crafty Chicks - 4CCC-52 Inspiration
Crafty Creations - #133 Inner Animal
Fab 'n Funky - #87 Mono Madness
Freshly Brewed Challenges - FBC61 Emboss It
Little Darlings - #6 Ruffles/Pleats
The Paper Shelter - #28 Die Cuts & Punches
Deep Ocean Challenge - #6 Light Blue

Danni by Victoria Case

This week's Flutterby Wednesday challenge is an open one - anything goes as long as you have a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation.

I'd like to send a special thank you to Victoria Case for creating this beautiful digi stamp for the Flutterby Wednesday team.  She is just too precious!  I flipped the image before printing it out and coloring it with copic markers.  I'm not entirely sure where the orange came from {LOL} - I started out to make a teal card and somehow she just seemed to need orange instead!  Funny how things go in a different direction than intended sometimes.  {grin}  I used this week's Sketch by Carly for the layout.

Thanks for fluttering by my way today!  Be sure to stop by the FBW blog and see how the rest of the team used this sweet Danni image.  Then take some time to get inky and show us what you create this week!  {wink}

A New Challenge with a DT Call

Yep, you heard right! As you may already know, Paper Makeup Stamps offers a wonderful selection of digital images! For the past few months, and going forward, all new releases are available in the digital format. So we thought it would be fun to have a weekly challenge just using the digital images. The digital format offers so many options that are not available to users in the rubber format.

We thought it would be fun to have a weekly challenge dedicated just to digi-images. It will be the Digi Makeover Challenge! We hope to offer some ideas and occasional tutorial to help you use digi-stamps to their full potential. And, of course, there will be prizes!

The challenges will be every Monday, starting in September. So bookmark us and come back on Sept 5th for the first challenge!
Needless to say, we need a Design Team! Interested in being a Digi Makeup Artist? Here's the scoop...

•DT members will serve for a 6 month term.
•Create a card or project using a PMS digi image for each challenge
•You must have a blog
•Challenges are every Monday, so challenge photos must be uploaded to the digimakeover Yahoo group by Saturday night.
•You will be expected to comment on challenge entries.
•If you are able to provide tutorials, that's fantastic, but it is not a requirement, but sure is a plus!
•You will have access to all digital images from Paper Makeup Stamps to complete your challenges.
•Your name will be listed on the PMS blogs as a Digi Makeup Artist!
•You will have a DT button to display on your blog
•You will be part of a fun team that loves Paper Makeup Stamps and loves to use digi images!

So....how do you get your name in the hat? Just create something using one of the free digi stamps provided here - it doesn't have to be a card, it can be any crafty creation. Post it to your blog, and let us know why you love using digital images. Be sure to mention that your post is for the Digi Makeover Challenge DT call. Then use Mr. Linky here to link up that blog post so we can see it!! We'll announce the new team on Friday, September 2nd on the PMS blog!

Thankful for You

I am hopping with Taylored Expressions August Blast from the Past! See the complete list of participants at the bottom of this post. The theme is "Collectors Anonymous" to help us use some things that have been hoarded for a long time.  I used the set called Friendship Blooms and the sketch created by Sankari Wegman for this card.

I have had this stack of textured paper for over 2 years and just cut into it for this card - isn't that a crime?!  I love the subtle detail it gives the leafy branch, frame and butterflies.  That pretty paper has been untouched in my stash forever too.  And I have all these pretty buttons and twine that I love collecting, but typically don't think to use them.  These are actually clear glitter buttons that I colored with a couple of copics to get the right shade of green to show through.  I totally {heart} how easy it was to do!

Then at Flutterby Wednesday this week's challenge is to use punches and/or die cuts on your cards with your butterfly, fairy or angel.  I love Taylored Dies and have used Leafy Branch and Take Note 3, as well as my favorite MS butterfly punch.  {wink}

Thanks for fluttering by and I hope you've been inspired to break into your hoarded goodies and use them!

Moody Anniversary

** Edited to add the winner of the Couple of Moodies stamp is Auntie. **
** Please email me at mybearybest(at)yahoo(dot)com. **

The Paper Makeup Artists are hopping today with some "Oldie but Goodie" stamps that were all released before 2011.  You should have arrived here from Lisa McKinney's fun and fabulous blog!  If not, you'll want to start at the PMS Blog and check out all the details about today's hop.

Since my 20th anniversary is this month, I have used "A Couple of Moodies" with "Hugs and Kisses".  We even kind of looked like that 20 years ago!  {LOL}

*Candy Alert*
I have an extra A Couple of Moodies stamp that I'd like to give away.  Just leave me a comment saying you'd love to win this stamp and I'll draw a name on August 15th.  Otherwise, you can just leave a comment saying how much you love my card!  {giggle}

Your next stop on today's hop is Randee's Rendezvous!  She always has something clever and creative to share!  {wink}

Sizzling Makeover Challenge

Every month on the 7th, Paper Makeup Stamps will have a Paper Makeover Challenge hosted by Dawn Mercedes.   The Makeover challenge this month is to use Sizzling Summer Colors - think reds, oranges and yellows.  Check out the PMS Blog for all the details on playing along, linking up your card and prizes!  {wink}

For my sample, I have used the set called Freckled Lemonade.  I first stamped the saying with Stazon ink on glossy cardstock.  I clear embossed the citrus stamp several times with Dazzle Versamark for a glittery effect.  Then I sponged the red, orange and yellow inks over the background and wiped the excess ink off the embossed parts.  {Easy peasy lemon squeazy!}
