Feeling Icky

My card features poor Flubu who is feeling icky. He's so icky that not only is he green, but he's covered in spots! {LOL} I love how paper piecing this little monster really brought him to life. Look at the close-up below.

I shadowed his eyes with a grey pencil to give him that "I can't sleep and I feel icky" look. I love how that paper from Basic Grey looks like a quilt that he's wrapped himself up in. I colored the thermometer with a stardust glitter pen. Flubu's horns and ice pack are paper-pieced too.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes regarding my recent trip to Ohio for my grandfather's funeral. It was a treasured time with family and a comforting service.

This week's Makeup 4 the Weekend challenge to make a birthday card is hosted by Danni. And her Flutterby Wednesday challenge is an open one - just have a butterfly, fairy or angel on your card. With Dannni as the hostess for both challenges, it seemed fitting to combine these this week - especially since I'm playing catch-up after being away. {wink}

But you know, when you're playing catch-up, it takes awhile for your mojo to come back too, haha. So, I went searching for inspiration at today's inspiration challenge - perfect, right? I found this picture of a pretty blouse and it reminded me of some Ambrosia paper by Basic Grey that I have. That's also why I chose a light blue background for my card to match the light blue background of the blouse.

And then I went to this week's sketch challenge for the layout, so I wouldn't have to think too hard about that either. {LOL} The butterfly is from the Color It-Summer set and Birthday Wishes is a simple sentiment from Paper Makeup Stamps.

Speedy's Friends Challenge #14 - Thank You Card

Fun sketch this week based on a card by Dawn Mercedes. Which is perfect because I needed to make her a thank you card using the fun stuff she sent in my un-birthday package. {see previous post}

I embossed a star with one of my new cuttlebug folders and then used a star nestie to cut out a larger star around it. I used the nestie as a template to trace a star outline with my stardust pen. I highlighted the dry embossed part with my pen too. The turquoise part is covered with stars using my Versarmark Dazzle ink pad. I love how it gives a shimmery tone on tone background. The fun tabs were decorated with my new ribbon, star gems and embossing folder.

All That Scraps - Monochrome
SCS Sketch Challenge - SC261

Here is my first attempt at monochromatic coloring! I've learned All That Scraps has a Weekly Wednesday Challenge and for this week it's monochrome projects. They featured a card by Katie Cotton as an example and gave links to her video tutorials on how to do this. Let me tell you, they are fabulous! I watched them and said, 'Okay, I can DO this!' I chose Swiss Pixie Birgitta by C.C. Designs and stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I pulled out my neutral markers and realized I didn't have the range I needed for black & white monochromatic coloring. Hmmm, well I decided Birgitta could look good in blue, right? Although, she does look a bit like she's been holding her breath too long, KWIM? hahahaha

The papers are from Basic Grey Lime Rickey and Marrakech. I colored white flowers with the copics to match. I used Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities to cut Birgitta out and edged it with a blue spica atyou glitter pen. And she just seemed to NEED sparkly wings, so I dusted them with dazzling diamonds glitter. Here's a close-up of her. {grin}

Paper Makeup Stamps - M4TW35 use felt

SCS Sketch Challenge - SC289

This week's Makeup 4 the Weekend challenge is to use felt on your card. I went digging through leftover supplies from the boys' school projects and found this dark blue glittery felt. Oooh, so what could I make with that? I decided to go through my paper next and chose this sheet from Basic Grey Lime Rickey that matched the felt pretty well. Once I had that picked, it made me think of water, so using the Sailing By set from Paper Makeup Stamps was a natural choice. Then I thought hey, if I cut the felt to look like waves it would fit this week's sketch challenge pretty well. And so, hey, I did just that! {grin}

I used versamark ink to emboss with my Night of Navy Classic ink pad and clear EP. I picked copics that matched my paper and colored the sail boat simply. I used dimensionals to pop up the boat panel over the felt. I love how fast this card came together - all starting with that piece of felt!

Just Us Girls Charity Challenge

Featured here is a very special charity stamp in memory of Henry Anderson. Paper Makeup Stamps offers it as both a digi image and a rubber stamp with the proceeds going to Henry's family. JUGs is hosting a charity challenge to make a card using the Henry Snow Angel image.

I used today's sketch from Splitcoast and the color combo of Bashful Blue, Real Red and Certainly Celery from Scrapmaster's Paradise. I printed the Henry digi image and colored him in with a blender pen and inks. I added my favorite dazzling diamonds glitter to the snow. Henry is cut out and popped up over the blue panel with dimensional tape.

For the green background, I took the three snowflakes from Snow Happy and arranged them all on the same acrylic block. That made stamping my background a breeze! I am so enjoying unmounted stamps! :) The sentiment is one by Great Impressions that I picked up from a local craft store and it is stamped on shimmery white paper for some extra snow sparkle.

Here's another one of my favorite Paper Makeup fairies. Kirsten has such a dreamy look on her face and I've made many wishes as I blew dandelion seeds off into the breeze. I used an aquapainter with my watercolor wonder crayons to color her a couple days ago. Then I was stuck on a layout until today's sketch challenge at Splitcoast. Gotta love sketches! :) It's subtle, but I traced around her picture with a glitter pen. The saying is also from Paper Makeup.
