Birthday Gus

Makeup for the Weekend - M4TW19
Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge - MTSC65

Here's a Birthday RAK that I made for Jan's son from Tweet Designs. He's turning 6 this Friday - Happy Birthday Darrel! :)

I started with the colors from Paper Makeup Stamps weekend challenge - Red, Blue and Kraft. Then I decided to use Mercy's Tuesday sketch for the layout. This birthday monster from PMS is named Gus. Doesn't he look so cute and ready to party in his hat and bow tie? I used a white gel pen and spica gitter pens to color him and a versamarker to add a little bit of shading. I also sponged some bashful blue around him just to help him stand out from the background a little bit. Another thing I love about unmounted stamps is how I can cut a saying in half and stamp it separately or put it back together on the block and stamp it whole. Soooooo much easier than using markers and omitting. The saying is from the PMS Birthday Cheer set. The paper is some remnants of DP that SU! sold a long, long time ago.

Here's a close-up to better show the glitter of those fabulous atyou spica pens.

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Stamps: PMS Gus the Birthday Monster, Birthday Cheer Sentiments
Paper: Kraft, old SU! DP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Bashful Blue

Branch Out

Splitcoast Featured Stamper Challenge - Mercy Kerin FS120
Flutterby Wednesday - FBW#100

I've had this card of Mercy Kerin's marked in my favorites for a long time and decided to CASE it. It's really hard to see, but the coral cardstock has a checkerboard pattern to it from one of the texture plates that SU! sells. The DP circles are from SU!'s Pink Flamingo papers. The tree stamps are all from SU!'s recently retired Branch Out set and the saying is from their One of a Kind set. The bird, butterflies and flower all sparkle from my spica glitter pen and I framed it with paper piercing, just like Mercy did on her card. {grin} I just LOVE how this turned out.

And even though the butterflies {or flutterbys} are little, they're still there, so I'm counting this in Danni's 100th Flutterby Wednesday Challenge too. Congrats on 100, Danni, and here's to the next 100!

Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings,

Playing with Candy

Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge - MTSC64

I was the blessed winner of Mercy's recent 300,000 hits blog candy! What an amazing package of goodies came my way. I just HAD to play along with Mercy's sketch challenge this week and use some of that great candy. {wink} This sweet Swiss Miss Rosalie stamp is by C.C. Designs. I don't have any stamps like her and I just love how darling she is! I chose a couple papers from the Basic Grey Nook & Pantry pad and pulled my colors from there.

Now I used some gift money to get some copic markers a few months ago, but I have been so intimidated to use them! I really like the coloring techiques that I see on other blogs and I've just felt like I'll never be able to color like THAT, so I don't try. How silly of me, right? I've determined that if I don't try and practice, I won't learn. {sounds like one of my 'mom' speeches to my own boys} And I just LOVE how pretty Mercy's copic coloring is on her cards, so even though I don't know what I'm doing technique-wise, I colored Miss Rosalie with copic markers. I wish I could have shaded her face and dress better, but it's a start.

I did add a layer of clear spica glitter pen over her dress and how I wish the camera would pick up the shimmer from that. The sweet sentiment can be found at Paper Makeup Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a blessed day!

Pop-Up Dream

Flutter By Wednesday - FBW#99
Try It Out Tuesday - TIOT#57
Splitcoast Free For All - F4A2

I recently made my first purchase from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design (SCACD) and I was very pleased! Susana has some super cute stamps and fun crafting supplies and her shipping was speedy fast! Her design team does a "Try It Out Tuesday" challenge and this week it is to use the colors pink, moss/sage green and white/vanilla. Then Danni's "Flutter By Wednesday" challenge is an inspiration one using this picture of Tinkerbell.

So, I've taken the liberty of adding some lavender with the pink, green and white color scheme on my card. And, quite appropriately I think, I chose to use the fairy stamp with butterflies swirling around her named "Danni" for my card. {grin}

The newly named Free For All challenge on Splitcoast (previously called Limited Supply) is to create a Free-Standing Pop-Up card. I created the base with sage green cardstock and added pink taffeta ribbon. The word "Dream" is a sticker that was included in a little goodie bag that came with my order from SCACD. I colored Danni with ink and a blender pen. She is also very sparkly as I traced over much of her with the glittery spica pens. After punching out the butterflies, I ran them through the xyron and coated them with dazzling diamonds glitter. Oh, and the row of pearls on the large butterfly was also in that goodie bag. I'm telling you, if you haven't shopped at Susana's store yet, you ought to give it a try! {wink}

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!
