Lemonade Sketch

Cardabilities - Sketch #26

Paper Makeup Stamps is sponsoring this week's sketch challenge at Cardabilities.  One lucky participant will win a $15 gift certificate!  Be sure to check out some more samples from the Makeup Artists on the PMS blog

The half circles on this sketch reminded me of the citrus stamp from Freckled Lemonade.  I used some yummy papers from from the Sparkle and Ruche collections at Paper Temptress for a very sparkly card.  I embossed some extra shimmery lemons with Versamark Dazzle Frost ink and clear powder on Sparkle Mangue cardstock.   The red paper is Sparkle Vermillion cardstock and the glass of lemonade was actually stamped on Sparkle Blanc for a shimmery effect there too.  If you click on the photo to enlarge it, I think you can see all the sparkle a bit better.

White Crepe Ruche cardstock gives my background such great texture and it absorbed the ink perfectly for my sentiment without bleeding or omitting any of it.  Love it!  {grin}

Thanks for passing by today!  I hope you'll play along with us at Cardabilities - can't wait to see what you create with this fun sketch!

Tickled Pink

Splitcoast Clean and Simple - CAS2011springDT2

The next challenge in the Spring Showers CAS DT search is to use the colors pink, kraft, chocolate plus vanilla or white.  I have had the woodgrain technique on my "to try" list for awhile now and I decided these colors could work nicely for it.  I scored a piece of pink pirouette cardstock every half inch and then rubbed over it with my Crumb Cake (kraft) and Chocolate Chip ink pads for the grainy look.

This cute piggy is from Kitchen Sink Stamps Ducks and Pigs set.  I sponged over the white panel with Crumb Cake ink to mute it a bit.  It's hard to tell, but the pig panel is popped up on dimensional tape.  I used a clear stardust glitter pen to outline each of the panels taped to the chocolate chip cardstock, just for some subtle sparkle on my card.  Then I thought a little bit of twine would go well with the rustic look of my card.  It's finished size is 4-1/4" square.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all the beary best!

A friend just asked me to create a card for a baby shower she's going to this weekend. I chose to paper piece a digi stamp called Expecting by Shaela Odd at Yellow Umbrella Designs. I just {heart} how this turned out and hope my friend likes it too. {grin}  I kept the design simple to fit the first Spring Showers CAS DT challenge as well. The sentiment is computer generated.

True Beauty

Flutterby Wednesday - FBW143 Open
Sweet Stop Sketch - SSS96

This week at Flutterby Wednesday is everyone's favorite challenge - an open one!  Just remember to have a butterfly, fairy or angel somewhere on your creation.

For my card, I followed the sketch from The Sweet Stop and this week there's a spin to use a spring theme.  Can't get more springy than butterflies and flowers!  {grin}  I embossed my image is from the True Beauty set by TAC and colored it in with a blender pen and ink pads.  Then I went a little crazy for a few minutes cutting around all those tabs for the postage stamp look, haha.

Thanks for fluttering by today!  I look forward to seeing your own fluttery creations at FBW this week!

CAS Guest Designer

Splitcoast Clean and Simple - CAS107 Make Your Own Background

This week I have the honor of being one of the guest designers for the CAS Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  It's a technique challenge to make your own background.  I had lots of ideas and finally settled on some faux embossing.  I played around with some circles first and that made me think of Angie Angelfish.  {grin}  I love how one idea leads to another.  My son has a red and blue betta fish that he has named Captain America - isn't that cute?!  So, my inspiration for Angie's coloring came from his pet fish.  I went back to my stamping roots and shaded her with chalk pastels.  I like how I can swirl together different shades of chalk for new tones of color.

For some added interest, I pressed each of the background circles on my Versamark Dazzle Frost ink pad.  It gives them just the right amount of a slightly darker, sparkly tone to them.  Love how they shimmer in real life.  Angie's circle is popped up on dimensional tape.  Her little "happy day!" saying is one of many from the Little Moments set.  The baker's twine was gifted to me from my fellow DT member Jami Bova ~ Thanks Jami!

I'm so happy you stopped by today!  And I'm wishing you all the beary best!

Square Silhouette

Splitcoast Ways to Use It - WT310 Silhouettes
Splitcoast Clean and Simple - CAS106 Sketch

Here's a simple card that I made for two Splitcoast challenges today.  How nice to have a quiet day and some time for stamping!  February really seems busier than December for me every year.  There are just lots of extra school things that happen these winter weeks that are good and fun, but extra work and running around too.

The center square of this card is the part that opens.  The textured scallop square on the black mat is just a backing for the card.  I masked the center square and sponged a few colors over the floral silhouette from Faith Hope Love.  The sentiment is from the Will to Daydream Kit.

Thanks for visiting and I wish you all the beary best!

Digital Tuesday Challenge - #97 From the Heart
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Have a Heart

This week's Flutterby Wednesday challenge is to have at least three hearts with your butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation.  On my card I have used a digi image by Michelle Perkett called Butterfly Fairy.  I flipped her to face right before printing and colored her in with copics.  The butterflies are coated with a stardust glitter pen and her wings with a clear spica glitter pen for a softer shimmer.  I used the smallest heart nestie shape for the corner hearts and covered them with dazzling diamonds glitter.  {grin}

Football Fan Thanks

Bearly Mine Challenge - #3 For Men and/or Boys
Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays - Dots & Stripes

This might seem like an odd pairing of image and sentiment.  My son went through my stash of cards for a teacher thank you and declared that they were all "too pretty" for his English teacher at school, {LOL}.  He said he would like a football thank you for him in Steeler's colors since his teacher is a Steelers fan.  He liked this crazy image called Football Fan Monster and I colored him with copics to match Steeler colors.  Then we thought this Shakespeare quote was good for an English teacher.  I thought the dotted texture on the background was like a football and added a couple strips of paper to mimic the stripes on the helmet.

Thanks for visiting and I wish you all the beary best

Birthday Time

The Sweet Stop Sketch - SSS93
ABC Challenge -
N is for Nestie

Happy 2nd Birthday,
Paper Makeup Stamps! To start the celebration, this Natalie Fairy has been released as a digi stamp. I had to color her pink since that's the "official" PMS color. {grin} And that led me to the yummy papers and flower in the Mon Cheri kit.

We'll be celebrating Paper Makeup's birthday all month long! Be sure to come back for a special blog hop on the 7th about the Things We Love and that night we'll have a birthday chat in the
PMS forum. I've heard whisperings about some sales coming up too so get your wishlists ready! {wink}

Michelle Perkett Studios -
Scallops & Frames

It's the first Wednesday of the month and that means we have a sponsor at
Flutterby Wednesday. Check out all the beautiful digi stamps at Michelle Perkett Studios Etsy Shop.

For my card I have paper pieced the lovely Amore Fairy. I was in a very sparkly mood, so I have colored her wings and flowers with Sakura Stardust glitter pens. {sigh} I just love the shimmer of those pens! I highlighted her frame with one of those pens too, and the black cardstock is some Sparkle Noir from Paper Temptress.

Thanks for fluttering by! Remember to use a fairy, angel or butterfly on your creation this week for the Open Challenge!
