Have Faith

We have been celebrating Danni's birthday all month with sponsors from her favorite companies.  This week's sponsors are Paper Makeup Stamps and The Greeting Farm.  Be sure to check out the Flutterby Wednesday Blog for all the prize details.   It's another OPEN challenge this week - just remember your butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation!

I've used the beautiful Madelyn Silhouette fairy by Paper Makeup Stamps on my card.  The sentiment is from the PMS set When There's Nothing Left to Say.  And I followed this week's sketch from Splitcoast Stampers.

Thanks for fluttering by and I hope you'll check out all the inspiration from the Flutterby Wednesday design team at the FBW Blog.  While you're there, be sure to give a warm welcome our newest DT member, Kelly!

Sailing By Silhouette

Welcome back for another Digi Makeover Challenge by Paper Makeup Stamps!  This week we are re-sizing our digi stamps from the very [BIG] to the very [small] and we hope you'll play along.  {wink}

I made this card with a particular friend in mind.  She's strong in her faith and loves to spend time sailing at the lake.  Earlier this year she had a masectomy and now she's just found out that she needs to have another one on the other side.  It's hard to process, but at the same time she's counting her blessings and not dwelling on the negative.  I just want to give her some encouragement as she prepares for her next surgery and recovery.

I started by filling in the sailboat image from Sailing By with a light gray color to create a silhouette.  Then I colored a few of the words blue from the Sometimes God Calms word art and placed it over the sailboat image.  I chose to size and print my images large.  I wanted the words and sailboat to be the focus of my card.  Sometimes, simple is best.

Be sure to check out all the re-sized creations by my fellow Digi Makeup Artists.  They came up with some really clever ideas and you can find the links to their blogs in my sidebar.

Angel of Hope

The celebration continues at Flutterby Wednesday!  We are having OPEN challenges all month long - just remember your butterfly, fairy or angel on your project.  And there are new sponsors and prizes every week from Danni's favorite companies too!  Check out the Flutterby Wednesday blog for all the details on this week's giveaway from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design

I used Angel of Hope by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD on my card.  I colored her with copic markers and her wings have a nice shimmer from going over them with my clear spica glitter pen.  Wish I could pick that sparkle up in my photos.

Check out my flutterby team members' blogs for more inky inspiration - their links are on my sidebar.  And I hope to see your creations at Flutterby Wednesday this week!

Fabric Challenge

Welcome back for another Digi Makeover Challenge by Paper Makeup Stamps.  This week we want to see some fabric on your creation, along with your digi image.  Link up your project on the PMS Blog and you could win your choice of some PMS digi stamps!  {wink}

I used the colors from the current Play Date Cafe Challenge.  Did you know Paper Makeup Stamps is this week's sponsor?  That means another chance for you to win a PMS gift certificate -yay!

And over at The Corrosive Challenge Blog, they are using punches and die-cuts this week with another PMS prize being given away - double yay!

Now for the deets on my card.  {grin}  This time I sized my dandelion image from Dandy Wishes in Word and changed the color to purple.  Then I sized the saying, also from Dandy Wishes, and placed it close to the flowers before printing.  I added the lavender background with a brayer and die cut the clouds from a scrap of white fabric.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Check out the links to the rest of the Digi Makeover Artists on my sidebar for some more gorgeous fabric inspiration - you won't be disappointed!

Butterfly Coasters

Flutterby Wednesday has lots of fun stuff going on this month.  Our fluttery leader, Danni, enjoyed a birthday on September 4th and we're celebrating all month long with prizes every week.  {wink}  Check out the FBW Blog for info on prizes from Whimsy and Stars Studio and Tiddly Inks this week.

Also, we are thrilled to have Amy from A Thousand Sheets of Paper as a guest designer this week!  {grin}  We again have everyone's favorite challenge - it's an OPEN one, just remember your butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation!

Okay, so I don't have a new project to share with you this week.  Life has just been crazy with school starting and going back to work and all the damage in our area from Hurricanes Irene and Lee.  BUT,  I thought I could share with you one of my favorite projects that I did a few years ago.  I've never blogged about it before, so it should be new to most people here, right?

I got these 4" tiles from Home Depot and made coasters as a gift for my Mother-in-Law, as she shares my love of butterflies.  I used a retired set from SU! called Wonderful Wings and stamped the butterflies with black Craft Ink.  Then I left them alone and did not touch them for 48 hours - very important to give craft ink on a slick surface like tile lots of drying time!

Once they were dry, I colored them with my watercolor pencils - easy peasy!  Then I took them outside (for good ventilation) in a cardboard box and sprayed them with a clear matte sealant spray.  Once the first coat dried, I sprayed them again with a second coat.  That just takes a few minutes.  Then for my finishing touch, I cut out squares from a cork sheet and terrifically tacky sheets to adhere the cork to the bottom of the coasters.  I made two of each butterfly, so it was a gift set of 6 coasters.

Thanks for fluttering by.  Hope you enjoyed my flashback today!

Just My Style

This week we have fun sketch for you at the PMS Digi Makeover Challenge!

I used the dress image from the digi Retail Therapy set.  I erased the price tag from the dress first before printing it twice to paper piece it.  I added lots of sparkle with some bling and glitter - that's always in style as far as I'm concerned!  {wink}  And I tried to highlight the dress ruffles with my scalloped layers and ruffled ribbon.  Then the swiss dots embossing folder is my favorite way to add some quick texture to a card.
Thanks so much for your visit today and I would love to see you join us with your take on the sketch at the Digi Makeover Challenge!  There's a winner drawn every week for some Paper Makeup digi stamps - just be sure to use a digi on your card too!

I am also entering this card into the following challenges

Speedy the Cat's Challenge - #72 Use a Punch
The Paper Shelter - #30 Embossing

Star Student Digi

Welcome to my stop on today's Blog Hop.  If you came from  Randee's blog, you are in the right place.  Otherwise, you can start at the PMS Blog to see all the fun projects from this release and to collect the letters for your 15% off discount code.

I have used the digi version of Star Student from the Color Kids collection.  That allowed me to flip her to face the other direction and omit the stray hair on top of her head.  I was just in a neat and tidy mood, lol.  The sentiment comes with her both in rubber or digi.  I actually snipped my rubber saying in half and lined the words up on top of each other instead of side by side on my acrylic block.

The papers and accessories are all from the Mon Cheri Card Kit.  And I followed the sketch created by our very own Lisa McKinney for the Paper Sundaes Challenge that Paper Makeup is sponsoring this week.

Before you head out, grab your letter "D".  Now you are ready to hop to Lisa's Blog and see what creative project she has to show you!

Butterfly Serenade

We have another Open Challenge at Flutterby Wednesday - just remember your butterfly, fairy or angel on your project!  We are celebrating all month in honor of Danni's birthday and have lots of fun prizes lined up.  This week our sponsor is Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps.  I totally {heart} Sparkle's stamps!  Check out the FBW Blog for prize details and more SCRS inspiration!

Here I have Ukele Josh serenading a butterfly.  Isn't that sweet?  {grin}  I broke out the bright colors for them considering his Hawaiian shirt.  And I used a fun sketch is from JUGS 100th challenge for my layout.

Thanks for fluttering by today!

Digi Makeover Challenge #1

Digi Makeover Challenges are here by Paper Makeup Stamps!  Be sure to check out the PMS Blog for all the participation and prize details.  This week's challenge is to use the Paper Makeup colors of Pink, Gray, Black and White.

I absolutely loved Jami's card from a few week's ago using the Jill digi where she omitted the wings and cheek circles.  That card made me want to learn more about using digi stamps and the different ways you can manipulate them.  And I totally {heart} the flexibility it gives the images!  It's so much easier to erase part of the digi image ( I used GIMP) and print it that way than it is to mask tiny areas on a rubber stamp.  And while I love the fairies, it's so fun to use them as non-fairies too!  I can see myself using this technique over and over again.  {grin}

For my card I've used the digi of the Beautiful Day Fairy named Rose.  Many of the fairies have been available as digi stamps for a limited time only when they were first released.  Well, guess what?!  They will be back in the store again as digis very soon - Rose included!   After omitting her wings and cheek circles, I printed her out and colored her with Prismacolor pencils and baby oil.  The pink DP is from Kaisercraft Blushed.  The sparkly paper is actually SU! Basic Gray that I ran through my xyron and covered with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  You can't beat that for lots of sparkle!

Stamps: Rose digi by Paper Makeup Stamps
Paper: SU! Basic Gray, Neenah Solar White, Kaisercraft Blushed DP
Ink: Printer
Accessories: Deckled Oval Nestie, Prismacolor Pencils with Baby Oil, Xyron, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Piercing Tools, Dimensionals

Baby Sneak

Today Paper Makeup Stamps is previewing some new baby stamps for the September Release.  Be sure to stop by the PMS Blog to see the other sneak peeks the Makeup Artists have for you!

My fellow Makeup Artist Stephanie recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl - Congrats Stephanie!  I couldn't resist making a card for her with the new Baby Jamie Silhouette stamp.  The 'Congratulations' is from Build a Sentiment Additions.  I've always admired the pretty flowers and stitching that Stephanie adds to her cards - so I got brave and used my sewing machine on paper for the first time ever!  {lol}  Not too bad - I really thought I was going crooked on a couple of those sides, haha.

Remember Paper Makeup Stamps will be showing sneaks of the September Release through the 6th.  Watch the PMS Blog for fabulous card samples and giveaways!  {wink} On the 7th we'll start the day with a Blog Hop and you can get a code for a discount on the new stamps.  Then we'll end the day with a Release Party in the PMS Forum from 9pm-11pm EDT.  Bring a friend and you'll both be entered into a prize drawing!

Paper: Basic Grey Out of Print DP, GKD Onyx Black, Neenah Solar White
