Paper Makeup Gift Set

Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge - MTSC62
Flutter By Wednesday - FBW #98
Paper Makeup Stamps - M4TW18

A good friend of mine had her birthday recently and I thought I had the perfect gift for her, only to find out that it was a book that she already owned. What to do, what to do. Why, stamp of course! {grin} I made her this set of cards all following Mercy's Sketch from this week and using Paper Makeup Stamps.

This card is the one doing Triple Duty for Mercy's Sketch, Flutter By Wednesday and PMS's Makeup for the Weekend challenges. {links are at the top} I liked the warm colors of the butterflies and flowers in the inspiration picture on the PMS blog. I used the Buggy Sayings and Friendly Flowers stamp sets. The butterfly is paper pieced from some Basic Grey paper and the lower butterfly panel is Vintage Butterflies from The Paper Studio. I also added some sparkle with a spica glitter pen on the flowers and butterfly body - wish you could see it in the photo.

I {heart} this glittery designer paper from Stampin' Up! The felt flower and background stamp are SU! too. I again added sparkle with the clear spica pen to the little flowers and put tiny pink gems in the centers of them. The center stamp is from the PMS set Grateful Thanks.

The tree in the background is from one of my favorite PMS sets Nature's Song. The verse that I stamped over it comes from their Believe Scripture set. DP is from SU's Urban Garden papers.

And lastly, this card uses the PMS set Sailing By. I paper pieced the anchor and ran the bottom panel through a cuttlebug embossing folder using SU!'s Western Sky paper. Love the quick texture that can add. {grin} I found those neat blue pebble stickers at Hobby Lobby.

Thanks for looking. If you want to know any other details about these cards, I think I have all the ingredients posted in my SCS gallery which is linked on my sidebar.

Blessings!

Lighthouse Sketch

Paper Makeup Stamps - M4TW17 Sketch

Gabby from the Paper Makeup Stamps Design Team came up with this sketch for their Makeup for the Weekend challenge. It has a lot of layers, but after a lot of thought and rearranging of pieces, I think I got it just right. :) I paper-pieced the light house from the PMS set Sailing By. It's hard to see, but I colored the windows and edged the lighthouse with spica glitter pens. It gives it a very nice sparkly shadow on the left side. {grin} I used a cuttlebug embossing folder for some texture and added faux stitching to the layers rather than matting them which would have made my card even thicker. And I'm pretty pleased that I made a card without any white or vanilla cardstock ~ that's really hard for me to do!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed day! {smile}

Heartfelt Butterfly

Paper Makeup Stamps M4TW16 - Treat Bag
Flutter By Wednesday #97 - Butterfly, Fairy or Angel with Hearts

Here is a simple treat bag that I made. I have a small paper bag cut down to a 3-inch height to fit in between two Top Note die cuts. I've had this idea to make a butterfly using one of the heart images from Paper Makeup's Hugs and Kisses set. Then today I saw the Flutter By Wednesday challenge was to use hearts and I knew I could wait no longer! {grin} I love it when an idea and a challenge come together like that!

So, after stamping the heart twice on shimmery paper for the wings, I added brown pearls for the body and drew antennae with a spica pen before cutting it out and popping it up on the bag. The saying is from Paper Makeup's Everyday Thanks set and I think it just matches my butterfly so perfectly.

Stamps: Paper Makeup Stamps: Hugs and Kisses, Everyday Thanks
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Basic Brown, Close to Cocoa
Paper: Cool Caribbean, Shimmery White, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: SU! oval punches, brown pearls, spica pen, satin ribbon, sponge, marker, Cuttlebug folder, Top-Note Die, paper bag, glue dots

Pterodactyl Valentine

Here's the fun valentine that I made for my hubby. {smile} I couldn't resist having this cute pterodactyl fly with a heart and pairing them up with the "Love is in the air!" sentiment. I cut a space between his feet for holding the heart. He's colored in with a blender pen & ink and highlighted with glittery spica pens.
Thanks for looking and have a blessed day! :)

My Favorite Melody

Paper Makeup Stamps - Favorite PMS Stamp
Makeup for the Weekend - Pink and Lots of Bling
Flutter By Wednesday - Fairy, Butterfly or Angel
Splitcoast Limited Supply Challenge - Framed Art

Here she is - my favorite PMS stamp is Melody! She is the result of a PMS contest that I won to design my own fairy. Diem drew her singing to this little bird just as I imagined and I named her Melody. I think she is just the sweetest fairy ever! And yes, I am totally and completely biased. {grin}

I decided to combine her with the other Paper Makeup Challenge this week to use pink and lots of bling. After coloring her in with ink and a blender pen, I added dazzling diamonds glitter to her wings and spica glitter pens to her belt, shoes, music notes and around the circle's edge. The saying is embossed for a nice shine and gems added for even more sparkle. {heart}

And of course, the perfect finish for my perfect fairy is a frame. Now I can enjoy seeing her in my craft room every day.

Stamps: Paper Makeup Stamps: Melody, PMS Swirl, Dreams Come a Size Too Big
Paper: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Razzleberry Lemonade DP
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pink Passion, Pretty in Pink, Almost Amethyst, Blush Blossom, Riding Hood Red, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Versamark
Accessories: Circle Nesties, Label 3 Nesties, Fancy Tags Nestie, glue pen, dazzling diamonds glitter, spica glitter pens, clear EP, gem stickers, dimensionals, blender pen, 5x7 Frame

The Funnest Person I Have Never Met

Dawn Mercedes is simply the funnest person I have never met! Not in person anyhow. I was blessed to be assigned as her Big Sis in Splitcoast's Divine Secret Sister program 4 years ago. She's so friendly and creative that I had a great time "stalking" her gallery and posts on Splitcoast and emailing her on the side while trying to maintain my secret identity. That's how I first learned about challenges. There was this entire section of Splitcoast that I never knew existed, but how fun Dawn made it look! That encouraged me to start doing challenges and uploading cards to my gallery. And I've continued to follow her on-line and email these last four years, long after our Secret Sister round ended. With my funnest DSS reveal ever on my birthday, btw. {grin}

I now hang streamers and decorate my children's doorways for their birthdays - a new tradition that they just LOVE and I got the idea from Dawn. In turn, they've begun decorating mom or dad's chair at the table when we have a birthday. It's so fun to see them enjoy receiving and then want to give too. We also take turns creating different kinds of fairies to send things to each other and our children. There are a couple Pokemon fairies out there, a gum ball fairy, a rubber stamp fairy, and more! There are some rumors of a Star Wars fairy too, haha. {wink} And, my oh my, she started doing some design team work a year ago and her creations are just amazing! So clever and detailed. I have many new "favorite" stamping sites that I've discovered through her design work.

Another fabulously fun thing about Dawn is she celebrates half birthdays. February 3rd was her half birthday and I just couldn't resist putting together this fun little package for her. I used some pretty papers from Paper Temptress (cocoa crepe ruche, blanc sparkle and vermillion sparkle). I just love how the sparkle papers shimmer and how rich and textured the ruche is - such a yummy combination! Perfect for wrapping that big Hershey bar and scallop heart nesties to go with her BIG heart that freely gives and shares her talent and thoughts on-line. For the card I lined the nestie up beside the fold so that it would only cut across the top and right side of the heart, allowing it to open up on the left side for a message. The saying is from Paper Makeup Stamps new Birthday Cheer set and I added the '1/2' with a red marker.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll visit Dawn's blog and gallery too. :) Have a blessed day!
